A question asked many times is whether one should use Luan Plywood Underlayment for Hardwood Flooring. And from my point of view the issues is also what material is supporting the luan wood underneath.

Cause you can have a concrete subfloor or a particle board floor, and all of this will impact the look of your finished work. If you do use luan as an underlayment for Hardwood, ensure that the substrate material is sound and of good quality with no squeeks or bending. If necessary, screw the luan into the sublfoor substrate. If you follow this simple tip you should be ok with regards to using Luan as an underlayment for your Hardwood Flooring Projects.
