The best way to fill in the gaps between your luan plywood boarding is to use some sturdy and rigid if possible.

To begin your project of closing the gaps up, your first step should be to open up a 1/2 inch gap in the luan plywood underlayment using a circular saw set to the depth that the board goes down or the most accurate depth.

Then you need to cut 1/2 inch strips of material from any excess Luan Plywood Boards, so enough to fill the gap. Make sure it is the same quality of wood that you used on the underlayment to avoid any uneveness.

Then glue and nail those strips in the gap you cut out of the underlayment with your circular saw. Finish the job by sanding, ensure all the connections are flush.
