Creating Do It Yourself Veneers for Luan Panelling or Plywood
Veneers are created by Layers of Lauan Wood which are glued together, with adjacent plies having their wood grain at right angles to each other, to form a composite material. There alternation of the grain is called cross-graining and has several important benefits: Lauan Plywood Vaneers reduce the tendency of wood to split when nailed at the edges, this is a benefit for many do it yourself jobs, especially when you consider that most do it yourself'ers are novices in jobs for the first time.
Installing Wood Veneers for Laminate or Vinyl Flooring
When you install luan vaneers it is to begin with the project from the corner of the room, and work your way out with the laun wood, moving in a single direction, or in a similar way that any subfloor materials have been laid. You should make a space in the area of 1/16th of an inch from the walls and the plywood panels. Then use a nails, or screws to insert 1/4 inch staples at a half foot apart across the top of the luan veneers, and then every couple of cenitmeters apart along the edge of the project. Install more laun panels in a similar way, and then leave about 1/16 inch of a gap between the boards
