How to Cut Luan Plywood

Great Tips For Bending Plywood

Finding the best way to cut plywood, is sometimes a bit of an exercise, I've complied here the best methods to get you clean and precise works on your do it yourself jobs. The best way to make a precision cut in plywood is to make a template out of masonite or some other material, and then use it as a guide for your router. Once that has been completed, your next step should be to use a amp router with a 1/2 inch mandrel and piloting bearing on the outer end of a 1/2 inch carbide cutter.

The best thing about using an approach like this is that it follows the workpiece on top of it whether it has been clamped or it has been screwed into place. It should fit the cut just right, and if you adjust the cutter so that the pilot bearings foloow the emplate, while the cutter is engaging the work, you should have a nice clean edge. This is the best method, and cut out 8/4 hardwood within the 1/16 luan material (plywood) is better than that.
